PROUD TO BE
ASSOCIATED WITH THE
ORGANIC PANTRY
Pantry. This has been developed after a
lot of research by Freddie and Johnny.
What the schools were looking for were
potatoes pre-peeled, but ideally had a
seven-day shelf life. We all know you
can keep potatoes peeled in a bowl
covered in water overnight, but seven
days is different altogether. Freddie and
Johnny have developed a mix of lemon
and orange juice that not only keeps the
potatoes fresh but doesn’t alter the taste!
And would you believe it every variety of
potato is different! This saves the schools
a lot of time and it has resulted in Organic
Pantry winning the “Good Food for Life”
schools award.
Freddie himself is also working on a
new range of pickles including Sauerkraut
and Kimchi to add to the shop’s already
extensive range.
When you produce as much veg as
Organic Pantry does, invariably there will
be broken or bruised veg, nothing wrong
with them just not fit for sale. Does this go
to waste? Oh no, Fanny manages amaz-
ingly to volunteer at Rainbow Junction
in north Leeds, which is an organic café
which caters for those in need. Basically,
anyone can eat there, and you pay as
much as you can afford. So, all the per-
fectly edible surplus from Organic Pantry is
donated to Rainbow Junction.
I asked Freddie about future goals for
the business. He came back loud and
clear. “Organic Pantry to be a household
name across Yorkshire and make organic
food more available to everyone”.
Well, I think we can safely say the enter-
prising Watson family will achieve them
and we wish them continued success.
We offer you an attentive, local and personal service
