BEST SELLING
DYNA-DRIVE NOW
HAS A BIG BROTHER
»» ORIGINALLY INTRODUCED
in the 1980s, the DYNA-DRIVE
became one of the best
selling BOMFORD products,
well known globally, due to
its simplicity and low running
costs.
It can be used for both
primary and secondary
cultivations. With farmers
having to look at the cultural
control of blackgrass as
part of their overall control
policy, because it is nonPTO powered and quick
and easy to use, the DYNADRIVE is ideal for use in this
situation as it enables stale
seedbeds to be quickly
and cheaply created for the
subsequent chemical control
of blackgrass.
‘well known
globally’
Where rotational ploughing
is used, in intervening years
by only cultivating the top
few centimetres of soil, this
ensures that weed seeds
are not brought back up
and newer seeds are kept
close to the surface for quick
germination and subsequent
control.
Initially available in four
working widths from 2.0
metres up to 5.0 metres, the
new DYNA-DRIVE now has a
larger brother for 2016. The
new folding models will soon
to be available in 4m and 6m
options, giving easier road
transport, and even faster
cultivation.
The tines on the grounddriven front rotor initially
dig-in and lift the soil. The
backward facing tines on the
rear rotor, which is driven at
three times the speed of the
front rotor via a heavy duty
uprated Duplex drive chain,
immersed in oil, then break-up
and firm the soil to leave an
even, fine tilth.
Because it is not PTOpowered, the DYNA-DRIVE
only has a power requirement
of about 32 horsepower per
meter, so can be used on a
smaller, lighter tractor, which
can be run at lower engine revs
for improved fuel economy.
Being ground driven, forward
speed is not a limiting factor
and the faster it is operated,
the better the results. Ideally,
the DYNA-DRIVE works best at
forward speeds of more than
7mph and up to 10mph and at
these speeds, a 4.0m DYNADRIVE will easily cover around
40ha an hour.
Aside from reduced
operating costs, the tines on
the DYNA-DRIVE are only in
contact with the soil for 14%
of the time, so wear rates are
impressively lower.

BOMFORD TURNER
REVEALS A FIRST FOR
UK – THE FLAILBOT
»» MACHINERY
manufacturer Bomford Turner
chose LAMMA 2016 to
unveil Flailbot – the UK’s first
remotely-controlled mower to
feature extendible tracks for
increased stability on steep
terrain.
Each of the two tracks can
be independently extended by
the operator by 250mm/10”. By
widening the footprint to aid
stability and grip, the mower
can operate on inclines up to
55 degrees.
With a powerful Perkins
40hp engine, twin-track grip,
excellent manoeuvrability
and flexible tool attachment
options, Flailbot delivers
robust all-terrain performance.
Rubber and studded steel
track choices offer the best
traction for different surface
conditions, whilst automatic
track tensioning prevents track
loss.
To maintain the optimum
cutting height and angle, the
1500 mm/59” cutting head
floats over the terrain, adjusted
automatically. A range of tools
and accessories allow Flailbot
to be configured for a wide
range of applications, including
agricultural processing, green
maintenance, earthmoving and
snow clearing.
Remote control makes
Flailbot ideal for use on hilly,
banked and even mountainous
areas. With a range of up to
150m/492’, the remote ensures
precise joystick control of
forward or reverse track
speeds, from 0-7 km/h /0-4.5
mph. The unit also displays realtime data, including machine
incline, attitude and speed.
Announcing the launch at
LAMMA, James Cuthbertson,
Director of Sales & Marketing,
said: “We’re delighted to
unveil this immensely capable
machine, especially at the
UK’s premier trade fair for
agricultural machinery and
equipment.”
Other Bomford Turner
machines which attracted
strong attention at LAMMA
included the New Folding Dyna
Drive 4M, the Hawk 6.0 VFA
variable forward arm and the
Falcon 6.5 VFA variable forward
arm.
