Keeping 4x4s and pick-ups in full
working order is vital for farmers
and to do that, parts are essential.
Ian Wilkinson met Peter Jones
of Thornton Breakers which
specialises in exactly this.
Developing and expanding a
business without losing either its
personal touch or its specialisation
credentials is not an easy task.
But it is one that Peter Jones and his
family are successfully achieving at
Thornton Breaker s in Halifax in West
Yorkshire.
Peter started the business nearly 30
years ago in a small yard in Thornton,
breaking and selling spares for all manner
of cars and vans. Today, the thriving
businesses specialises in parts for 4x4s,
plus single and double cab pick-ups
– all essentials for farming customers.
Increasing demand led to a relocation to
bigger premises in Halifax which provides
full workshop and office facilities.
This is still very much a family business
- Peter son and daughter also work with
him - and although outdoors it is very
much a traditional breakers’ yard as you
would expect – inside, it is a 21st century
operation with a full onlin HP
