YAMS: FROM ONE MAN’S IDEA TO A
MAJOR NORTHERN SUCCESS...
When Phil Robinson of Yorkshire Handlers approached Richard
Tasker of York Auction Centre with his idea about hosting his
open day, it was not much more than that – just an idea.
But it was an idea that
swiftly became a whole
new concept, for an event
which has been exactly
tailored to the gap in
the market Richard had
identified.
At the start of it all last
November, just 30 or so
exhibitors had showed interest
– but within weeks, Richard
wasregretfully having to turn
people away, after that figure
has tripled to 90committed
exhibitors and all stands were
taken.
With that amount of healthy
support, it became no small
logistical operation to organise
and plan all the stands and
get the site sorted for the big
day.

Two major concerns had to
be addressed on behalf of
visitors and exhibitors: would
there be miles of queues to get
in - and would the weather be
as bad as LAMMA?

the show neither of these
issues proved a problem.
