»»Neogen’s GeneSeek subsidiary has
been providing a comprehensive range
of veterinary and agrigenomic diagnostic
solutions for more than 17 years. Since its
acquisition by Neogen in 2010, GeneSeek
has tripled in size and continued to be a
global leader providing SNP and STR testing
to some of the world’s largest animal breed
and health companies. In 2012, Neogen
acquired the assets of Igenity from Merial.
In May 2014, a newly purpose built
30,000 square foot laboratory dedicated
to genomic services was completed
in Nebraska, US. In October last year,
GeneSeeks first dedicated European

How can GeneSeek help farmers?
The OIgenity® DNA profile can help you
select, manage and market your beef and
dairy cattle with more confidence and the
parentage verification allows animals who
have missed the 27 day BCMS registration
deadline to get a passport. Recognised
by the BCMS for parentage verification
this provides an accurate and costeffective parentage identification tool. The
parentage testing services are used by
breed societies for parent verification for
animal registration and identification.

DNA Profiling
The Igenity® Profile is available to beef
and dairy producers to give an indication of
the genetic value of breeding stock for key
profit drivers such as meat eating quality
and carcass conformation.
In addition to parentage verification
and profiling, a range of testing including
horn poll, myostatin, coat colour, genetic
recessives and a range of high and low
density chip based genotyping services is
available.
Comprehensive Genomic
Solutions for Beef & Dairy Cattle
GeneSeek’s latest GeneSeek Genomic
Profiler-LD chip (GGP Bovine LD v4) screens
cattle for approximately 42,000 markers,
of which more than 30,000 are publically
available. The GGP-LD was developed to
provide an effective, affordable genomic
profiler for routine breedstock profiling,
selection and management. The improved
chip contains approximately 30,000
markers for deriving genomic predictions
and breeding values, all of the International
