That might be free range pork, Yorkshire lamb, superb rare breed beef, or handmade speciality pork pies, sausages, black pudding and dry cured bacon. “The only way I have to make my business stand out is through buying the best there is – I don’t go for the cheapest price but judge everything on quality. The local farmers I trade with offer the best, whether it’s lamb from Worsbrough, Packington free range pork or Copas Bronze turkeys. Peter orders those turkeys in March and every bird is ordered by a customer. All game in season is available too. “As members of ‘deliciously yorkshire’, our aim is to provide customers with a real taste of our region, which we are so proud of and believe produces some of the finest food available. We prepare everything here in store,” says Peter, who knows his stuff having been in the trade for 33 years from the age of 16. “Although I actually worked with my Dad who was also a butcher, and did boning out from the age of about 10! My team is very experienced and knows exactly what they are doing, which I really value,” he says, paying tribute to his staff.
