YORK AUCTION CENTRE
ENTHUSIASTIC NEW YEAR
DEBUT FOR NEW YORKSHIRE
AGRICULTURAL MACHINERY SHOW
Chris Berry meets Richard Tasker at York Auction Centre to hear
about this welcome addition to the farming event calendar.
There was a time when farm
machinery events run by individual
dealerships proliferated all around
Yorkshire.
Indeed, they formed a social calendar
for farmers and farming families in January
and February, providing many with their
first main events of the year, as well as
being an excellent platform for exhibiting
tractors, combines and many other new
products to be viewed – often for the first
time ever.
But while a few of the local shows still
do exist, sadly, those run by the likes of
Gough’s of Hunsingore, John H. Gill &
Son and RBM Agricultural are long since
gone.
This year, however, a brand new show
is being launched, designed to bring
Yorkshire’s farm machinery dealerships
- and the national manufacturers they
represent – all together in one place
at a central location in the county. The
timing is significant too, with the UK’s
largest farm machinery event having
moved further south.
Yorkshire’s first-ever multi-farm
machinery manufacturer and dealership
event, the Yorkshire Agricultural
Machinery Show, launches at the
York Auction Centre on Wednesday
5 February. Organiser Richard Tasker,
partner at York Auction Centre and the
man who has become synonymous
with York Machinery Sales, held
regularly throughout the year, says
he has been very pleased with the
encouraging, positive response from
exhibitors.
“We had no idea what to expect
when we initially decided to put on
this event,” said Richard. “We have run
extremely successful farm machinery
sales here at Murton for many years
but this is a completely new challenge
and we have been amazed at just how
much everyone is embracing it.
“It has shown the enthusiasm that
exists amongst those who sell new
machinery, that so many have come
forward and taken trade stands.
