We pay him for contracting the arable and share the profits. The farm has a small amount of wheat, barley and oilseed rape as well as grass. We sold our sheep to David and buy from him. They still run on our land. They were Lleyns but are now a mix of Suffolk X, Mule X and Texel X. ‘We both have suckler herds. Ours were all pedigree Angus but we’re now using a Charolais bull as we’re aiming to get more meat to the bone and less fat content in the heifers. We’ve kept our Angus bull. We kill out one bullock a week. We have 30 Angus cows. If we run out of supply from our own herd we move on to David’s stock. All of the beef or lamb sold through Cedar Barn comes from the two farms and we source elsewhere
