in the late 1950s. When Bridge Farm came up for sale he sold Mill Farm as Bridge Farm was next door to Mount Pleasant. Chris took over the farm in 1984. He married Christine( Artley) and they have Jenny, their eldest who manages the holiday cottages; Tim, who works for Barry Clark Plumbing & Heating; Becky, who works for Yorkshire Coast Caravans; and Mitch.

he met his girlfriend Jessica( Hardy).

Renewable energy and countryside stewardship are both important to the Foreman family.
‘ We’ ve dug ponds and put in a six acre wood. We’ ve won a Silver Lapwing award and have been a regional runner up in the Tye Trophy. We have solar

panels at Bridge Farm and a ground source heat pump heats the workshop. We also have biomass boilers at the holiday cottages and at home.’
Today’ s set up with the robotic milkers and Mitch fully on board has helped alleviate some of the stresses Chris had been feeling for many years. He and Christine have managed to get away for the first time in many years, he’ s enjoying tinkering about with old tractors

and going to vintage rallies – and Mitch isn’ t strapped to the farm the way his parents had been.
‘ I have a third share in a boat with my brother, Tim and his boss and I enjoy scuba diving.’
Chris and Christine have known some dark days, but they’ ve always come out of the other side smiling and with the milk price on the rise it’ s starting to look good at Brigham.
