In early August I met up with Sophie Allanby their marketing manager who very kindly showed me round the new depot which I have to say is hugely impressive and certainly raises the bar to a new level from similar new buildings I have seen housing machinery dealerships . The building was in its final fit out stages so you could really appreciate its size as there wasn ’ t a part or machine in sight .
Funding for the new depot was provided by HSBC . Stephen Smith , relationship director for HSBC UK Corporate Banking , said : “ The development of this depot will support Yorkshire ’ s agricultural sector , whilst also providing valuable local engineering jobs for the local community . Ripon Farm Services is well established in its field , we are pleased to support the business achieve its next stage of ambitious growth .”
The new building is chock full of spacious modern facilities .
The showroom is large enough to contain the X9 combine with header which is the largest in mainland Europe . There is a huge reception desk , comfortable seating and desks .
The Parts department is situated behind the showroom , its product count will be monumental . At the side will be a dedicated office for technicians to view detailed parts and product diagrams on 72-inch screens greatly aiding the maintenance and repair function . The workshop area itself more resembles an aircraft hangar , It has been built to house the largest of machines and many of them . It will be kitted out with the very latest in hi tech service and diagnostic equipment as well as a huge Overhead Travelling Crane that can literally pick anything up from an engine to an entire combine ! Part of the reason for such large workshop facilities is to provide a state-of-the-art support facility for their rapidly growing combine business .
There is an impressive suite of offices and meeting rooms leading off the showroom area coupled with excellent toilets , kitchen area and rest facilities , even a dedicated area for all internal and external post and stationery store .
