Carrs Billington – New Thirsk Machinery Depot raises the machinery business to the next level
The name of Carrs Billington is more generally associated with the 32 successful country stores situated in multiple locations across the north . Carrs established its position as an agricultural supplier following the amalgamation of several small businesses operating in the north , including Thomas Edmondson of Penrith , Reeves of Moffat and Oliver and Snowden of Carlisle . They were all pulled together to form Carrs Farm Foods and in 1990 then becoming Carrs . Carrs Billington Agriculture came about as a result of a joint venture between Carrs Agriculture and Edward Billington & Son Ltd . Since then , Carrs Billington Agriculture has continued to expand and become a leading supplier of agricultural products to farmers from Brecon in the southwest to Jedburgh in the North .
WHAT is not as widely known , despite its significant and loyal customer base of farmers , is that Carrs have been supplying new and second-hand machinery for more than 25 years . From 1994 when they first took on the Massey franchise , they are now the second biggest Massey dealer in the country . They are also the largest dealer for Weidemann in the UK ! and a long standing Krone dealership - To name but three of their many brands .
The machinery business has successfully grown year on year and now , with the opening of their newest depot in Thirsk , coupled with the driving force of Charlotte Ellis who is the newly appointed Machinery Marketing Manager and is dedicated to raising the machinery businesses profile and helping drive sales to the next level , the future looks very exciting .
The much-anticipated opening of the new Thirsk depot has really expanded Carrs presence and visibility in North Yorkshire and provides a vital piece of the marketing jigsaw joining the other machinery depots in Annan , Barnard Castle , Carlisle , Hexham , Morpeth , Penrith , Spennymoor , Skipton , and Stranraer , Stranraer being the newest depot before Thirsk
Back in June I met up with Charlotte Ellis to see the new Thirsk depot and
