Borderway Agri Expo Seminar Announcement

FOCUSING on the future of the industry H & H Land & Estates announces the industry leaders participating in seminars covering the key issues for the sector at Harrison and Hetherington ’ s Annual Livestock Showcase .
Harrison & Hetherington ’ s Borderway Agri Expo is set to take place on Friday the 28th of October , and following on from the success of last year , the seminars will once again see H & H Land & Estates take on the role of hosts to discuss some of the most important topics in farming today . The expo is the largest autumn livestock showcase in the UK , the event showcases the best quality beef and sheep , as well as the latest developments in farming practice , genetics , breeding , technology , equipment , and machinery .
The seminars will focus on the future of farming with speakers from DEFRA , Forty Farms , Farmstock Futures and a Member of Parliament .
The event takes place at the Borderway Mart in Carlisle and will see industry leaders and members of the H & H team discussing the changes to the current farming practices , land , legislation , and environmental issues , along with anticipated changes to consumers demands .
In the first seminar , The Future of Farming in Northern England , will be chaired by Tim Sedgewick , Director & Chartered Surveyor , at H & H Land & Estates . The speakers for this seminar include a representative from DEFRA ; MP for Penrith and the Borders , Neil Hudson ; and Julia , Professor in Practice at the Centre of National Parks and Protected Areas and a Consultant with H & H Land & Estates .
The second seminar , Farm to Fork , will feature Amy Bateman , a Countryside & Commercial Photographer who was named British Life Photographer of the Year . Amy photographed and conducted frank conversations with Cumbrian farmers about the financial challenge of farming in post-Brexit Britain and the tightrope balance of producing quality food in nature rich landscapes . The Forty Farms book ( soon to be available ) and exhibition opens at Rheged in mid-September .
Commenting on the seminars , Tim Sedgewick , Director and Chartered Surveyor for H & H Land & Estates said , “ The aim of the seminars is to bring industry leaders together to provide farmers with the latest information on key topics and offer detailed advice on their respective areas . We have chosen two topics that we feel are extremely relevant at this time .
“ We have been seeing some dramatic changes in the agricultural industry over the last few years with Brexit and the COVID-19 pandemic , and with a shift onto the focus of environment and sustainability for the future of the industry , so I am sure there will be plenty of discussion .”
The seminars will take place in the H & H Land & Estates Seminar Ring and they will both include a question and answer session . They are scheduled as follows :
11:30 – 12:15pm - The Future of Farming in Northern England 12:30 – 1:15pm - Farm to Fork
Borderway Agri Expo is a highly acclaimed event and a showcase of the different facets of the agricultural industry . Throughout the day it will feature a full programme including the livestock shows , classes and awards , and the trade and machinery stands .
