Celebrating the traditional and embracing the future
Another successful Driffield Show
DESPITE the extreme weather experienced on the two set up days prior the weather remained kind to the Driffield Show on both Wednesday , 20th & Thursday , 21st July and visitors enjoyed near perfect Show temperatures . Since it was first held in 1854 the Driffield Show has offered visitors a vast spectrum of attractions and entertainments . With its winning formula of celebrating the traditional and embracing the future the Driffield Show has earned its place as a ‘ must do ’ event on the calendars of both the farming community and families looking for a good value day out and this year proved to be no exception .
In the region of 20,000 visitors enjoyed looking around the livestock section and browsing around the well over 500 trade stands , Handicraft and Horticulture marques , fur and feather sections and dog show . The Forestry Section and the new Agricultural Machinery Demonstration Area contained a wealth of traditional and innovative machinery and allowed the general public to see machinery working at close range that is normally only seen being operated at a distance .
As well as the wealth of equine expertise that we come to associate with the Driffield Show visitors were also treated to breath taking entertainment from East Riding ’ s own Atkinson ’ s Action Horses in the Woolley & Parks sponsored Main ring . Not to be left out the increasingly popular KCOM Activity Arena was also packed with a full timetable throughout the day .
Plans for the 147th Driffield Show in 2023 are currently being discussed and full details will be available from www . driffieldshowground . co . uk shortly .
