SO , when they are stolen it impacts on the work that can be carried out and puts undue financial pressure on the farm / user when it comes to replacing the vehicle . As a business , we understand the impact the theft has on the consumer and the industry as a whole . So , to see there has been a rise in the cost of ATV / SSV theft to the UK from £ 2.6 to £ 3.1m is disappointing . This rise is something we as an industry should be looking to tackle head on through continued investment in vehicle security and ongoing work with consumers , police forces ,

tracking system providers and insurers on ways to deal with the problem .

With key cloning being a major issue in ATV theft , we have developed our Digitally

Encoded Security System ( DESS ) to reduce the risk of theft via this method . The system utilises electronic key codes that are required to match each specific ATV ’ s engine control module ( ECM ), which means the machine will not start unless the coded microchip in the key matches the pre-installed code .

In addition to our own security system , we understand the importance of tracking systems that need to be fitted to the vehicles , so if they are stolen , they can be recovered . To address this , we have partnered with the market leader in this

area , DATATAG , and at all our dealerships its tracking systems are installed on site before the Can-Am vehicles leave the workshop .
