‘ We want to expand our acreage and we are actively looking for more land ,’ says Tom . ‘ We haven ’ t expanded our own hen operation on the farm since 2004 . We would have another hen shed if we had more wheat .’
Phil runs the arable and free-range hens operation and has two other farmworkers and three stockmen ; Tom manages the Eggsell business and helps Phil at peak times on the farm ; and Mark is in charge of the eggs once they get to the building door . He has a large team working on Elliott ’ s Eggs with 15 in the packing centre .
‘ Ell , my wife , works in the business as technical director ,’ says Tom . Phil is married to Rebecca who works part time in the Eggsell office . The Elliotts are obviously pretty good at producing males as Stewart and Caroline currently have four grandsons . Caroline still works in the office and Stewart , who is very mechanically minded is , as Tom says , brilliant with electrics .
