back again ”. Any animals in the herd not up to standard are now sent for meat .
In the past three years there have been some great achievements . A Coley bred Hereford has been champion at the Royal Highland Show for the last three years ; they have also been champion at The Great Yorkshire Show for the last two years , with Coley 1 Pilot also taking the Junior Interbreed Champion in 2018 and going on to be the top priced Polled Hereford bull selling at auction - 13,000 guineas !
Heather and Andrew and the Coley Herefords are respected serious breeders . They are a high health herd and are accredited for BVD , Lepto , IBR and Johnes at level 1 . They have all types and prices for sale , all the utmost quality . They are farm assured and all animals are halter trained .
Heather takes a real interest in where Coley Herefords are sold and loves to see them go to good farms . It was also no surprise to learn that , as Heather has such a passion for her animals , yes you guessed it , they all have names ! Jeff even bought Heather one for her birthday , but alas it was then sold .
Both new breeders and existing breeders consider Heather , Andrew and the Coley Herefords as the go to examples for quality and breeding advice .
This year Covid 19 has stopped all shows as we know . This has created a lot of extra time to do all those jobs on the farm that need doing . However , I have to say that Coley Walks Farm has to be one of the most pristine farms I have seen . Heather and Jeff have completely restored Coley Hall . All the farm buildings have been refurbished or rebuilt in completely original style . The newest barn from the outside looks like a beautifully restored barn , however when you step inside you can see the modern block construction that has been clad in old beams and Yorkshire stone exterior . The quality of the land is also most important with soils , manure etc regularly tested as well as the haylage they produce which needs to be tip top for the Hereford ’ s . Heather has some very strong future eco plans for the land . Hedges have also been planted and replanted , drystone walls reinstated , and the yard re concreted . The farm renovation hasn ’ t all been done this summer , not by a long chalk , it has been steadily achieved over a period of time .
With such attention to detail across the farm it is no surprise that the Coley Herefords and Heather are so well-renowned , we wish them continued success .
