‘While George shows his Herefords at
Malton we don’t show anything else as
myself, Wendy and Maisie, who is a sheep
steward, are too busy. Malton is now a
fantastic show. Moving to Scampston
thanks to the Legard family has been the
best move we could have made. It is a great
site, largely on sandy land that soaks up
any rain. We now offer some of the best
prize money around and have some great
sponsors such as BATA.’

year he just took one bull and it won its
class at Malton and was second at Ryedale,
but was reserve breed champion as the
other bull went on to become champion.
His bull Normanton 1 Jupiter was reserve
interbreed three years ago at Ryedale.’
‘We also fatten store lambs that we buy
every month and sell from November each
year.’
Kirkbymoorside YFC has played and
continues to play a large part in the Bulmer
family’s lives. Mark met Wendy through a
YFC Exchange between Kirkbymoorside
and Billinghay YFC. He is a previous chair-
man and Henry is a current member while
George and Maisie are chairman and
treasurer respectively at present.
Malton Show is another family involve-
ment. Mark took over as cattle secretary in
2006.
‘My father was involved. When he stood
down I went along to a meeting and took
on the cattle section. We’ve a great team
of stewards, including Wendy, and we’ve
really upped our cattle entries so that we
now have around 140 cattle. It didn’t just
happen overnight and we are grateful to
