DRIFFIELD SHOW
The Show with
something
for everyone
OVER 20,000 visitors enjoyed
near perfect Show weather for
the 144th Driffield Show. The
only shadow on the day was the
cancellation of the pig section as
a result of a confirmed case of
swine dysentery in the locality.
Fortunately, record numbers
of entries in the Bayer Animal
Health sponsored Cattle Section
and record breaking entries in
the Sheep Section. The equine
section’s Heavy Horse classes
sponsored by Smales, Goldie
Group also achieved excellent
entries and together with the
Pony, Hunter, Private Driving and
Show Jumping classes ensured
spectators constantly had top
class entertainment throughout
the day in the Woolley and Parks
Main Ring.
Nearly 500 trade stands packed
into the Showground including
the new Rose Cottage Foods Ltd
sponsored Food Hall which was
crammed with a tasty selection of
food and drink. The Food Hall was
partnered perfectly with the Kier
Homes sponsored Food Theatre
which provided demonstrations
from local producers and busi-
nesses throughout the day. The
Handicraft section also experi-
enced record entries this year
with the Fur and Feather marquee
and the Horticulture Marquee also
producing healthy competition
from keen exhibitors.
Building on the foundations
of another successful Show the
Driffield Showground team area
already making plans for the next
Driffield Show which will take
place on Wednesday, 22nd July.
Trade stand application packs and
advance tickets will be available
from the Showground’s website
www.driffieldshowground.co.uk
from the end of October.
