» WHEN I FIRST MET
Graham Edwards a quarter
of a century ago he was
one of just two or three
agricultural trade stands at
beautiful Muker Show, one
of Yorkshire’s most unsung
heroes in the summer
agricultural show scene.
Graham had started on his
own as Graham Edwards
Fabrications some five years
prior in 1986 and when
we first met in 1991 he had
just officially launched his
livestock trailer business. His
first trailers had been camping
trailers and he had also made
small box vans for hot air

balloon enthusiasts. Martin
Garside joined Graham in the
business when their quest
took on providing quality and
unique livestock trailers.

Today and for quite a few
years now it is his son Matt
who runs the company that
is now far better known as
Graham Edwards Trailers and

has become the second largest
selling livestock trailer company
in the UK. Matt joined the
company in 1991.
‘We’re making 20 trailers a
week and we generally finish
a trailer to order as well as
having some floating stock,’
says Matt. ‘It was our ‘Wind
Away Deck’ trailer that made
us different and we constantly
look for things that will provide
us with something unique.
Our ‘Power Deck’ livestock
trailer has also proved a big
success in more recent times.
It’s particularly the older farmer
who generally appreciates
the ‘Power Deck’ as the two

electric activators make life
that much easier for loading
and unloading. The Power
Deck brings the back end
of the deck down so that
the ramp is a lot longer. It’s
basically the de luxe version of
the Wind Away Deck.’
‘We build every trailer to
do a job for the farmer who is
buying. When the law changed
to be able to tow a trailer up
to 8ft 2in wide with a Land
Rover we came up with a wider
cattle trailer with wheels aside.
The advantage of a nice, wide
container with wheels aside
is that it gives greater stability
on the road. Ours is the only
