She has two children – Fiona (16) who is to start her studies in Level 3 agriculture at Bishop Burton College in September, where Kelly also studied for her NVQ in farming and business; and George (8) who already has half a dozen pedigree Zwartbles sheep! Kelly and Fiona are als o both heavily involved with running Aire Valley YFC. “I’m club secretary because we only have young members at present. The club was down to just six members but we’re growing again and now have 15. They just need a little help from the adults at the moment.” Kelly and Fiona have had a great show year so far and even after this edition of Farmers Mart is published they will still have Nidderdale Show, Countryside Live and the Winter Fairs to enhance their growing reputation even further. “We’ve always said that getting a rosette is good. It means you’ve achieved something. Not everyone gets one, particularly at the Great Yorkshire Show and we’ve done that. We just want to carry on being successful and having a good time. We enjoy doing it together and I don’t know of any other mother and daughter teams.
