Machinery English wine producer chooses Weidemann »»A producer of quality English sparkling wines has recently taken delivery of a Weidemann 1350CX45 compact wheeled loader to tackle a multitude of everyday tasks at its West Sussex vineyard. Founded in 2004, Gusbourne Estates grows classic Champagne grape varieties on 60 hectares of land in Kent plus a further 30 hectares near Chichester where the new Weidemann machine is now based. Supplied by local dealer R. Philip Ltd Hunt of Basingstoke, the choice of the 1350 followed a series of trials by different machines during which the Weidemann unit came out on top. Commenting on the final choice, Gusbourne Estate’s vineyard manager Jon Pollard said: “We have used a similar type of machine at our Kent site since 2007 so had already established that an articulated compact loader with a good choice of attachments suited our application very well. “In particular”, continued Mr. Pollard, “it was the overall compact dimensions of the Weidemann unit combined with its excellent lift capacity and reputation for reliability that clinched it for us.” Weidemann’s 1350CX45 model weighs in at 2550 kg and is powered by a Perkins 4-cylinder liquid cooled diese
