Southfields Farm, located near Bedale in North Yorkshire, is a family owned beef and pig unit covering some 200 acres and run by husband and wife team Andrew and Jane Ashford with their two sons, Craig and Luke. The family is kept busy looking after a 1000 head of beef cattle plus some 200 breeding sows and followers. The farm did own a Kramer loader in the distant past and so Mr. Ashford is confident that his new German manufactured machine will mark the return to reliable, seven days per week operation. The 8095T model chosen for this application is powered by a 75 kW (100 hp) Deutz engine equipped with DOC exhaust after-treatment, coupled to an optional 40 kph Ecospeed transmission. This model, from Kramer's new premium 8 Series, features a high performance Powerflow hydraulics system which ensures smooth and precise machine operation. The machine is now used on a daily basis for a variety of tasks, but particularly for loading the feed mixer, spreading bedding straw, mucking out and handling some 8000 round bales per annum. This latter job often involves travelling some distance to nearby farms to load trailers when the high speed transmission really comes into its own. Like all Kramer machines, the 8095T is designed around a rigid chassis equipped with both 4-wheel drive and 4-wheel steer systems for outstanding stability, traction and manoeuvrability.
