The Taylor Family
The Whitebred Shorthorn bull
is bred primarily as a crossing
bull to mate with any breed of
female, but principally with the
Galloway to produce the noted
Blue Grey, and the Highland
producing a Cross Highlander,
the progeny being well suited
to the full range of British
climatic conditions.
ABOUT RBST
The RBST aims to securing
the future of our rare and native
breeds of farm livestock by
monitoring rare and native farm
breeds.
Every year they collect
data from breed societies and
use the number of animals
registered in a year to estimate
the total number of breeding
females. From this they
produce their annual Watchlist
which enables them to monitor
threats to breeds. Other factors
can threaten our breeds such
as inbreeding and geographical
concentration. The Trust also
monitors and tries to reduce
these.
RBST also saves rare and
native farm breeds in its own
invaluable Gene Bank. They
collect genetics from
animals, usually semen
from males but also
embryos – as an
insurance polic 丁%
