seven years.”
This doesn’t mean everything
in the ASDA/ARLA garden has
always been rosy - and nor
does it mean that Roger has
just stood back when things
have turned sour on the milk
price.
“In 2012, UK dairy farming
was in an awful situation. We
were facing enormous price
cuts and all the dairy farmers
got together, myself and Tom
included, to protest outside the
dairies and the supermarkets.
Every dairy farmer I know was
there standing together.
“I went along to the first
day – and what turned out to
be the only day – of the Great
Yorkshire Show that year as it
was washed out by the end of
that day. I wanted to be there
to visit the ARLA people on
their stand before other dairy
farmers got there - to tell them
exactly what the situation had
