60 MACHINERY APR/MAY 2020 • farmers-mart.co.uk Traxter a key player amongst SSVs Farmers Mart recently spoke to Can-Am and posed some key questions; How are the reliability stats for Can- Am and how do they fare on residual values? THE Traxter model is now becoming well known, so what are its three largest advantages above the mainstream competition? Since the Can-Am Traxter was launched six years ago, we have steadily increased our market share as users have come to understand the benefits it can provide them on a day to day basis. As a brand, we see it as the benchmark for utility side-by-side vehicles (SSV) but there are three distinct advantages that make the line-up stand out from the competition. The first is the price point of the Can-Am Traxter. The Can-Am Traxter range provides users with value for money and everything they have come to expect from the Can-Am off-road line-up. This expectation is for an SSV that is built to the highest possible standard, has the versatility to meet the constantly evolving jobs within the utility sector, and can provide industry leading performance from the torque output of the engines to their towing and carrying capacity. The second is power, which is provided by Rotax. The engines that propel the Can-Am Traxter HD5, HD8 and HD10 models are the 38-hp HD5 single cylinder engine, the 50-hp HD8 and the upgraded 82-hp HD10 V-Twin engine. These engines have been designed from the ground-up by Rotax’s engineers in Austria to provide industry leading performance and torque output that ensures users will complete any job or conquer any terrain with ease. The third is performance, which is aided by the Traxter’s selectable Turf Mode/2WD/4WD with Visco-Lok auto-locking front differential for effec- tive traction and grip on rugged terrain, and an electronic hill descent control for driving assistance. They also come with PRO-TORQ Transmission and heavy-duty Torsional Trailing A-arms (TTA-HD) rear suspension, which has been specifically created to enhance low speed riding as well providing a smoother and more responsive power delivery. In addition to the three areas men- tioned above, Can-Am also stands out from its competitors by being able to offer a fully integrated road legal kit that is available for PLG and agricultural registration. The Can-Am Traxter range is very relia- ble and it is one of main things our dealer network comments on when our district commercial managers catch-up with them. In addition, it is also what we hear from customers when they visit our stand at shows such as LAMMA, Royal Highland Show, Royal Welsh Show and the Great Yorkshire Show. When it comes to residual values, they are strong and this is supported by the fact that there are not many Can-Am Traxter models on the second hand market and by the fact that dealers are happy to take them back on and reretail them without having to offer them to the wider market. How strong is the Traxter range on tough terrain? Our R&D team is continuously liaising with our dealer networks and their customers to understand their require- ments as well as the terrain they are using them on. This constant communication ensures that our team can design and develop vehicles that have the versatility to handle the tough terrains and multiple applications with ease.
