Peter explained that they were lucky as the waters never made it as far as this end of the village, although nearby Dalton was cut off which entailed everything coming across the old airfield. I mentioned relocation to which Peter gave a resounding no: “We are ideally placed because of the network of major roads nearby A1, A19 , A68.” The new workshop is an impressive building, remarkably tall in height the main reason being was the opportunity for them to install a 10 tonne overhead crane which means large machines can be unloaded in a safe working environment & all tractor cabs can be lifted off in situ whenever required – all under cover which really speeds up workshop times. The workshop provides a much greater working space to house half as many pieces again of Tractors & machinery. Beforehand they had simply outgrown the previous space and were being very stretched to cope with current demand let alone the increasing size of today’s machinery. Workshop time had to be meticulously planned in order to accommodate everything. Not only has the workshop increased in size and functionality, but the parts department has had a makeover as have all the front offices. They have even carried out further concreting of yard space to store machinery and have demonstrations. Indeed on the day there was an impressive demonstration by the versatile Schaeffer Wheeled Loaders.
