Hallmark Tractors Limited Russell’s maintain the Hallmark of success »»2015 WAS A LANDMARK year in the history of the successful North Yorkshire dealership, Russell’s. Back in August 2015 (following an approach from New Holland) talks began with the Derbyshire Hallmark group, becoming public in November and finally sealing the deal on the 2nd January this year. Hallmark previously had two depots in Ashby and Cubley along with a turbine business. After a long running success of some 53 years the Hall family wanted a change and to diversify from the Ashby site. Hallmark Tractors was originally started By David Hall and Brian Hall, Eddie Nash joining the business 3 years after, Eddie’s son, Jim who joined the business in 1990 was keen to stay on as he had an extremely loyal customer base as well as a passion for the business. This was just what Paul Russell was looking for - as ideally when they took over Hallmark - they were keen for it to be ‘business as usual’ as much as possible, and the more refining and building they could do so much the better, rather than having to start from scratch. So Paul was more than happy for Jim to be General Manager. In the spirit of continuity and staff morale, in fact all the Cubley staff have been retained as have several from Ashby. 78 Apr/May 2016 www.farmers-mart.co.uk In order for Ashby customers to receive the same service, a parts drop off in the area has been established and already Paul and Jim are on the hunt for some new premises. Hallmark have some 8,000 accounts with around 3,600 active at any one time with a fairly even mix of Dairy and Arable. For now all machinery will be transported to Cubley for servicing and if need be, replacement machines can be supplied in the meantime. Jim has already started to build his team up by recruiting Andy Loxton who has been at PA Turney for 19 years and was also at Hallmark previously. As well as new franchise from Stewart trailers, all other previous franchises have been retained. Being part of the Russell’s group means much wider range of outlets for second-hand machines, greater
