Quality Buildings...Made in Yorkshire
Yorkshire Steel Buildings specialise in Agricultural Buildings.
We listen to your requirements and provide a custom built building
to suit. On time, on budget. It’s simple really.
Secondly on the BS5502 Classification
you need to make sure you specify what
loads will be on the building when talking
to your supplier so that they can correctly
design and build it. Think about possible
future uses as these may change the
demands on the building.
Importantly these changes being made
should ensure that you are buying a properly
designed and engineered building, safe and
fit for purpose.
Q. What does all this
mean to the Farmer?
A. Firstly on the CE Marking – you need
to check that your building supplier is CE
Marked from 1st July 2014. Remember it
will be a criminal offence after that to supply
a non-CE marked building and as the buyer
of one you may also be liable. There are NO
exemptions to this.

Q. What is this going to do
to the price of Buildings?
A. They’re going to be a bit more
expensive. This is inevitable as the CE
marking process is a costly exercise for us
frame manufacturers to undergo and that
cost will have to be passed on in the sale
price of the building. The re-classification
of buildings will also have an upward effect
on prices as it will force more buildings
into “Class 1”which as it is a higher design
standard, costs more to produce.
