It is recommended that the herbicides for pre-emergent broadleaf control be limited to these
products because of the threat of herbicide carry over to other crops.
The sweet and baby corn varieties are very sensitive to other herbicides and such products as
halosulfuron and Nicosulfuron should only be applied if permission is received from the seed
merchants. Directed shielded sprays can aways be used but these should be limited to those with
minimal carry over.
8. PESTS
Before spraying any chemical make sure you have checked on its harvest interval, the withholding
period and the re-entry period. Make sure you DO NOT spray any chemical which will leave a toxic
residue in the plant after harvest.
BEFORE SPRAYING ALWAYS READ THE CHEMICAL LABEL
SEE SECTION 14

Regular scouting should indicate the presence of aphids and then spraying can take place with one
of the following applied in 250 l/ha water. Follow up spray as and if required.
