Virtual Reality program is introduced in the goldsmith sector
I
n the world of science fiction movies, we often see people
stepping into the virtual world and exploiting the oppor-
tunities this brings to deal with challenges in the real world.
This scenario, however, is no longer limited to films, with the
virtual world m oving away from the big screen at an ever-in-
creasing rate.
Virtual reality is already used extensively today when tra-
ining surgeons, visualising buildings and not least to provi-
de a completely new experience of computer games, but,
according to many developers, businesses and researchers
currently involved in virtual reality, things definitely won’t be
stopping there. One of these enterprises is Khora, which has
opened Denmark’s first virtual reality shop at the premises of
the former meat markets on Vesterbro in Copenhagen.
The goldsmith industry is also seeing virtual reality creating
new possibilities within areas such as product development
and visualisation. As a result, we at Aktiv Guld have entered
into a partnership with Khora and developed a program in
which you can visualise designs in a way that hasn’t previous-
ly been seen in the business.
In more tangible terms, the program enables you to quickly
and simply visualise a ring. This may be useful in a situation in
which as a goldsmith or jewellery designer you have to de-
sign a wedding ring in consultation with a customer. Today,
this is often done using drawings, which places great de-
mands on your skills as a free-hand drawing artist.
The program will receive its premiere at the New Nordic show
in Copenhagen on 25-27 August. Pay a visit to Aktiv Guld on
stand 018+019 and design your own ring using virtual reality.
