“On the road” is a novel written by the famous American writer Jack Kerouac. He wrote this book when he was 29 years old. Someone said that he wrote it just in two weeks. It tells the travels of Kerouac and his friends across America. It is one of the most famous work of the Beat Generation writers. On the Road gave voice to the young generation of the late forties and early fifties. This book talks about important themes, like friendship, the use of drugs and alcohol, music and general culture, poverty and criminality. A journalist of “The New York Times” talked about “On the road” as “the most beautifully executed, the clearest and the most important utterance made by the generation Kerouac named as 'beat'."
