DISABILITY INSURANCE
AWARENESS MONTH: A GOOD
TIME TO CONSIDER FUTURE
By: TDIC Risk Management
May is Disability Insurance Awareness
Month, which makes it a good time for
dentists to make sure that their futures
are protected.
Disability Insurance Awareness Month
was named by the LIFE Foundation, a
nonprofit organization dedicated to
helping consumers make smart
insurance decisions to safeguard their
families' financial futures.
TDIC is encouraging dental
professionals to consider the important
role disability insurance plays in an
individual's financial security.
"If you could no longer practice
dentistry, what impact would it have on
your financial stability, and your family's
life?" said Blair Tomlinson, TDIC
manager of sales and service. "That is
what Disability Insurance Awareness
Month is all about, stopping to think
about protecting your future."

Dentists who do not have disability
insurance and/or business overhead
expense insurance are one accident away
from having to deal with
insurmountable office overhead
expenses and the possibility of being
forced into closing their practice.
"A dentist's ability to earn an income is
their most valuable asset to protect
when you look at the long term,"
Tomlinson said.
TDIC offers policyholders true "own
occupation" products, or disability
coverage that pays the policyholder
benefits when he or she can no longer
perform all the day-to-day duties of
their present, or "own," occupation.
In addition to own occupation insurance
options, TDIC brokered policies
feature the following:
• Recovery benefits;
• Good health benefits;
• Future increase option;
• Partial disability benefit rider;
• Non-disabling injury benefits;
• Partial disability income loss; and
• Non-cancellable and guaranteed
renewable.
"Life is unpredictable. Make sure you
put yourself in a good position should
an unfortunate event happen,"
Tomlinson said.
