The Uses of Botulinum Toxins in Dentistry
Botulinum toxin has been shown to be very effective in the management and treatment of TMJ dysfunction, tension-type
headaches, related to masticatory dysfunction. We will review the uses of Botulinum toxin in dentistry, indications and
contraindication Guidelines for prescribing doses and applications.
David Dana, DDS. Born in Mexico city, Dr. David Dana received his bachelors of science degree in 1977.
He obtained his DDS at the Universidad Tecnologica de Mexico, in Mexico City, in 1981 and in 1983 he
graduated from the Prosthodontics program at Boston University School of Dentistry. Dr. Dana moved to
Southern California and established his practice in South El Monte and later in Beverly Hills.
In pursuing his career goals, Dr Dana continued with his education in periodontics implantology, restorative
dentistry and dental and facial aesthetics, TMJ and orthodontics. He joined the San Gabriel Valley Periodontal
Surgery Study club in 1990 where he continues his studies there today. Dr. Dana joined Progressive Orthodon-
tic Seminars in 1990, and became an instructor in 1993. In 2013 Dr. Dana became education director for
Progressive Orthodontics Seminars and McGann Postgraduate School of Dentistry help establish the McGann
international school of Dentistry at Primas University in Indonesia and he is the Vice Chief of the Advisory
Board. He lectures nationally and internationally on a variety of topics related to Orthodontics, TMJ and Facial
Aesthetics. Dr. Dana has lectured extensively in the uses of Botulin toxin (BOTOX) in dentistry, and lip augmen-
tation with dermal fillers. He has trained hundreds of doctors in Europe and the USA Dr. Dana is also the
Curriculum Coordinator for Progressive Dentistry. His private practice focuses on Facial Aesthetics, Prosthodon-
tics, Orthodontics and TMJ treatment.
