Join our naturalists at the Senior Center in Danville on the 4th Wednesday of every month from 12:30 to 1:30 p . m . for a FREE nature-themed program !

Beavers Wednesday , Jan . 25
Beavers are amazing engineers ! Their adaptations help them complete their jobs most effectively . On land , a beaver ' s movements are extremely awkward , making them vulnerable to predators . In water , however , beavers can swim up to 6 mph and they stay underwater for up to 15 minutes , all which help beavers evade terrestrial predators . A naturalist will bring props to showcase this fascinating animal .
Maple Syrup : From Forest to Table Wednesday , Feb . 22
The maple trees are waking up , and they carry a sweet treat for those who are willing to put the work in to enjoy . It takes about 40 gallons of maple sap to make 1 gallon of maple syrup after boiling . Enjoy legends on how maple syrup was discovered by the Native Americans . Be sure to join us for Maple Syrup Days and the Pancake Breakfast Fundraisers ( see pages 4-5 ) on the first two Saturdays of March at McCloud Nature Park ! partners with the Central Indiana Council on Aging ( CICOA ) to provide the meals . CICOA ’ s paperwork must be completed upon your first visit . Lunch is prepared by Hendricks Regional Health Hospital .
