Tadpole Time
Young children are naturally curious . Encourage their curiosity through fun and interactive introductions to nature in our Tadpole Time programs ! Each month will focus on a different topic and feature native animals , stories , crafts , nature exploration , and ideas for continuing exploration at home !
This February and March , we ’ re offering Tadpole Time in-a-Box on designated Fridays . We ’ ll set up a selfguided trailside activity or two at the park , and we ’ ll stock each box with at least three additional take-home activities for you and your tadpole to tackle at your own pace and place . In April , we ’ ll switch back to the usual Thursday for in-person Tadpole Time .
Recommended for ages 2-5 years old with parent / guardian ( older siblings ages 6-7 are welcome to register also if they want to participate ).
We love all of our guests at McCloud Nature Park , the Vandalia Trail , and W . S . Gibbs Memorial Park , and we want everyone to feel welcome regardless of sexual orientation , gender , race , ability , or political / religious affiliation . Our parks are here to provide a respite from the conflict , stress and anxiety of today ’ s world , so we encourage everyone from all walks of life to find peace through the beauty and tranquility of nature .
WINTER WONDERLAND IN A BOX BOX PICK-UP DATE : FRIDAY , FEBRUARY 11 10 a . m . to 4:00 p . m . at McCloud Nature Park Winter brings cold temperatures and snow , as well as snowflakes . Did you know that each snowflake is unique ? How do animals stay warm and dry in the snow ? Uncover the vast winter wonderland with this activity kit . Fee : $ 5 / box
WILD WEATHER IN A BOX
BOX PICK UP DATE : FRIDAY , MARCH 11 10 a . m . to 4 p . m . at McCloud Nature Park The seasons are changing , and this can bring wild weather . Explore wind , rain , and clouds with this activity kit . Activities include art projects , science experiments , sensory exploration , and more ! Fee : $ 5 / box
WIGGLING WORMS
THURSDAY , APRIL 14 , 10 A . M . McCloud Nature Park Slimy , helpful , and wiggly – worms are fascinating creatures ! Investigate worms through observations , experiments , art , and more ! Gardeners all around the world tip their hats to this amazing wiggly worker . Explore this creature with the park naturalists at McCloud Nature Park ! Fee : $ 3 / child
