SUMMER FUN RUN McCloud Nature Park • 4:30-6:30 p. m.

The Parks Foundation of Hendricks County’ s Summer Fun Run Series is back for 2026! Enjoy an untimed stroll or run with family and friends at your convenience between July 15 and July 20 at McCloud Nature Park! We will offer a short and a long course to run or walk on trails with gravel and natural surfaces.( Trails are not conducive to standard strollers. Jogging strollers with larger tires are a better option.) We’ ll have staff on-site on July 15 between 4:30 and 6:30 p. m. with ice cold water for you to cool down with when you’ re done if you’ d like to complete your run or walk at that time.

“ SMAMMALS!” McCloud Nature Park • 7 p. m. AUG. 14
Are you looking to familiarize yourself with Indiana’ s small mammals or expand your knowledge of safe and sustainable trapping practices? Come out to McCloud to learn about setting up a transect and how to appropriately handle small mammals! We’ ll hopefully get to meet some of the critters that call McCloud’ s prairie and woodlands home. Participants should dress for the weather and be prepared to take a short hike.

HENDRICKS COUNTY SWCD WATERSHED WALK McCloud Nature Park • 10 a. m.

Join us at McCloud Nature Park for this in-depth hike with Sydney Mrazik from the Hendricks County Soil & Water Conservation District. We’ ll explore the banks of Big Walnut Creek and discuss how we can all do our part to protect our watersheds. Dress for a hike and bring water shoes. We’ ll meet at the Ray & Mary Benson Nature Center.

WILDFLOWER BOUQUETS W. S. Gibbs Memorial Park • 2 p. m.

Have you seen the beautiful buds of late summer in W. S. Gibbs Memorial Park? For this special program, the naturalists will guide participants on a short nature hike through the park to our Pollinator Plot. There, we will discuss the importance of pollinators, what colors attract which pollinators, and then make our own wildflower bouquets! Note: The collection of plants in our parks outside of permitted program use is prohibited without written permission from our park management.
