Does drawing intimidate you ? Did you forget what flower you saw on that hike last autumn that you want to see in the summer ? Have you been in a park without cell service and want to know the name of the tree that you saw ? Nature Journaling 101 is the answer to all of those questions and more ! Join a naturalist to learn how easy it is to start your own nature journal . Rules ( or lack thereof !) for nature journaling , ideas of what to include , and practice entry prompts will be shared to develop a closer connection to nature . You do not need to be an artist or have a head full of knowledge about nature to register ! Meet at Firefly Shelter .

The Parks Foundation of Hendricks County ’ s Summer Fun Run Series is back for 2023 ! Enjoy an untimed stroll or run with family and friends at your convenience between July 18 and 24 at McCloud Nature Park ! We will offer a short and a long course to run or walk on trails with gravel and natural surfaces . ( Trails are not conducive to standard strollers . Jogging strollers with larger tires are a better option .) We ’ ll have staff on-site on July 19 between 4:30 and 6:30 p . m . with ice cold water for you to cool down with when you ’ re done if you ’ d like to complete your run or walk at that time . Enjoy the air conditioning while painting these beautiful flowers . Instructor Sherri Weir provides an enjoyable experience while also giving instructions and lots of encouragement . Amateur artists and more experienced ones will be sure to take away a beautiful painting . These painting sessions fill quickly so don ’ t delay in registering !

Don ’ t push snooze on your alarm clock this morning ! Grab yourself a cup of coffee and rise to the occasion ! Meet at the disc golf parking lot and hike with a naturalist to the top of the 30-foottall sledding hill . NOTE : this hike will be steep and on possibly wet grass ! We will watch the sun rise . After some moments of serenity , we ’ ll look over the park and discuss the various habitats and park features . You can enjoy some more peaceful moments at the top or hike back down . Be sure to bring your camera , journal , and that coffee ! The park is usually closed prior to dawn , so register soon to reserve your spot for this unique opportunity .
