Take Your Parents to the Park Saturday , June 17 • 10 a . m . W . S . Gibbs Memorial Park
Hey kids ! Bring your parent or a grandparent or that special adult in your life to the park for this program to entertain them ! We will lead them in playing games , and you can create a nature-based personalized craft for you to gift to someone important . These programs will offer identical craft options , but time will only be provided to make one . Games will differ between parks ( see page 5 ); you can register for both parks and do both projects and have two different experiences if desired . All supplies will be provided . Before or following the program , feel free to enjoy the available amenities at the park together ! Meet at Firefly Shelter .

How many plants and animals can you track down ? You and your family can contribute to science by taking pictures ! It ’ s that easy ! Document the plants and animals so that scientists can use that information . Use a provided tablet or bring a smart phone / device ( s ) for your children to use – download the free app “ Seek ” to use for this program . We ’ ll be going outside so dress for the weather . Join a Hendricks County Parks naturalist for this interactive lesson !

Learn why fireflies flash — and never have to pay an electric bill ! After a short presentation , catch and release these bioluminescent insects on a guided hike through firefly habitat . Luminate the path with glow bracelets , and you ’ ll have the option of purchasing some bug catching tools when registering online .
Hiking terrain info : moderate to difficult level of difficulty ; gravel and natural surfaces in the dark ; up to 2 miles .

Does your family need some new activities to do while hiking or camping ? Join a naturalist for a walk while we play games and try hands-on activities to keep your family engaged while outdoors . This is a great program for families and for scouts and scout leaders .
