STEAM Challenge : Build a Toy Zipline Saturday , Aug . 5 • 10 a . m . to noon W . S . Gibbs Memorial Park
Can you build a mini zipline to transport your action figure ? Will it work the first time , or can you make it better ? Who can build the fastest mini zipline ? This is sure to be a morning of fun for the toys ( and for the kids too )! Bring your own toy action figure or small stuffie , or use one of our toys . Meet at the playground .

Catch & Cook Tuesday , Aug . 8 • 5:30 p . m . W . S . Gibbs Memorial Park
Join park naturalists and Clint Kowalik ( owner of Go Fishin with Clint ) for an evening of fishing and cooking fish . We ’ ll wet a line in the ponds at the park , then learn how to filet and prepare fish for cooking . We ’ ll cook our catch and taste the freshly cooked fish ! This program is held outdoors , so dress for the weather . NOTE : State law requires fishing licenses for anyone age 18 + who is actively fishing . If you are simply assisting your junior angler , no license is required . Meet at Bluegill Shelter .

Native Landscaping Tour Tuesday , Aug . 8 • 6 p . m . Private properties in Danville and Clayton
Interested in giving native landscaping a try but want some ideas of where to start ? Join us for this tour of privately-owned properties in Danville and Clayton to see the wide variety of goals and objectives of these homeowners . Native landscaping can be an attractive privacy screen , or it can encompass acres . Listen to these local native plant enthusiasts as they share how they got started and what resources they used . Light refreshments will be provided .
Each location may be approximately a 1-hour tour , and start times are approximate .
Participants must provide their own transportation . Addresses of the tour locations will be provided to registered participants a few days prior to the tour .

The Parks Foundation of Hendricks County ’ s Summer Fun Run Series is back for 2023 ! Enjoy an untimed stroll or run with family and friends at your convenience anytime between Aug . 8 and Aug . 14 at W . S . Gibbs Memorial Park ! We will offer a short and a long course to run or walk on trails with gravel and natural surfaces . ( Trails are not conducive to standard strollers . Jogging strollers with larger tires are a better option .) On Aug . 4 between 4:30 and 6:30 p . m ., we ’ ll have staff on-site with ice cold water for you to cool down with when you ’ re done if you ’ d like to complete your run or walk at that time .
