2022 SUMMER DAY CAMPS

The warmth and sunshine of summer brings with it our 2022 Summer Day Camps ! We offer outdoor day camps at McCloud Nature Park during June and July that allow kids ages 2 to 12 explore nature and learn a thing or two from our naturalists along the way .

Each week of Summer Day Camps has a different theme , with camps designed for kids ages 2 to 5 and their parent or guardian held on Tuesdays , and camps for kids ages 6 to 12
LIL ’ EXPLORERS Young children and their parent / guardian will participate together in age-appropriate nature activities ! Activities for morning and afternoon are identical . Children must attend with a parent or guardian .
• Ages 2-5 with parent / guardian ( older siblings ages 6-7 may also register and attend )
• Tuesdays
• 10 a . m . – noon OR 1-3 p . m .
• Fee : $ 12 per camp ( includes camper and guardian ) on Thursdays . Choose a morning camp ( 10 a . m . to noon ) or an afternoon camp ( 1 to 3 p . m .) on the date of the camps that interest you .
For Tuesday camps , a $ 12 registration fee covers a camper and parent or guardian . For Thursday camps , registration is $ 15 per camper . Advance registration is required , and our camps fill up very quickly , so register early !
YOUNG ADVENTURERS The park naturalists are taking nature adventures to the next level for these camps ! Activities for morning and afternoon are identical . These are drop-off programs .

GET MESSY Time to get your hands dirty ! Make mud pies , paint with sticks , and play games that WILL earn a few grass stains . Bring a change of clothes for this one !
RADICAL REPTILES Cowabunga ! Reptiles are totally rad ! Discover what a reptile is and meet one of the Nature Center ’ s turtle representatives . You are sure to have a tubular experience !
MAD SCIENTISTS “ My creation is ALIVE !!” Do you like to create things ? How about making potions or doing experiments ? If you like all of these things , then this is the camp for you !
TINKERERS Thomas Edison once said , “ To invent , you need a good imagination and a pile of junk .” Campers will get the chance to try their hands and their minds at tinkering for this camp . We will be exploring some STEAM activities .
AQUABENDERS What lives in Big Walnut Creek ? Uncover the mysterious and strange benthic macroinvertebrates hiding in the water . Closed-toe , water-suitable shoes are required . A towel and
change of clothes are recommended .
BE A COUNSELOR-IN- TRAINING !
Our Counselor-in-Training ( CIT ) program is back ! If you are between the ages of 13 and 17 and want to encourage outdoor play in younger kids , then this is the program for you ! The CIT program is designed to help teens learn valuable life skills , work responsibilities , and leadership skills through hands-on experiences with our park staff , mainly during the summer nature day camps .
