BIKE WITH A BIOLOGIST Friday , June 4 • 6 to 8 p . m . Vandalia Trail , Amo Trailhead ( see page 3 for address )
Grab your bike and head over to the Vandalia Trail in Amo to meet your Indiana Department of Natural Resources Division of Fish & Wildlife biologist , Erin Basiger ! Participants will have an opportunity to learn about and identify common wildlife and plant species of Indiana during the bike ride . In addition , participants will view various wildlife habitats and possibly their wildlife occupants . The bike trip will consist of a 1.5-mile ride out from the start , and a 1.5-mile return ride , for a total of 3 miles . Participants may turn back at any point along the trail if they would like to return sooner . Modern restrooms and water fountains are available at the Amo trailhead but not at the turnaround point . FIREFLY NIGHT HIKE Friday , July 9 • 9:15 p . m . to 10:45 p . m . McCloud Nature Park
Learn why fireflies flash – and never have to pay an electric bill ! After a short presentation , catch-and-release these bioluminescent insects on a guided hike through firefly habitat . Participants will receive glow-stick bracelets , and at registration , participants may choose to purchase an insect jar and bug tongs . Wear comfortable shoes and bring a water bottle .
HIKING TERRAIN INFO : MODERATE TO DIFFICULT , NATURAL SURFACES IN THE DARK , UP TO 2 MILES RECOMMENDED FOR AGES 6 THROUGH ADULT . CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 16 MUST ATTEND WITH A PARENT OR GUARDIAN WHO IS ABLE TO WALK THE TRAIL .

The Parks Foundation of Hendricks County ’ s Summer Fun Run Series is back for 2021 ! Enjoy an untimed stroll or run with family and friends at your convenience anytime between 4 and 7 p . m . on the Vandalia Trail ! We will offer a short and a long course to run or walk on the paved trail , which is ideal for wheelchairs , standard strollers , bicycles , scooters , and roller blades / skates .
