The Parks Foundation of Hendricks County ’ s Summer Fun Run Series is back for 2021 ! Enjoy an untimed stroll or run with family and friends at your convenience anytime between 4 and 7 p . m . at the brand new W . S . Gibbs Memorial Park in Avon ! We will offer a short and a long course to run or walk on trails with gravel and natural surfaces . ( Trails are not conducive to standard strollers . Jogging strollers with larger tires are a better option .) We ’ ll have ice cold water for you to cool down when you ’ re done ! OUTDOOR COOKING Saturday , Aug . 21 • 10 a . m . McCloud Nature Park
Cooking outside is delicious and does not have to be only hot dogs ! Park Naturalists will teach several different cooking techniques , which may include cast iron ovens , pie makers , and aluminum foil to prepare several dishes . Bring your empty stomach and be ready for some hands-on learning ! You will feel confident making some of these dishes in your own home or at the campsite after this program .

Join us at McCloud Nature Park for our 6th Annual McCloud Bee Fest , celebrating the importance of our pollinators ! Check out the honeybees in the Bee House observation hives ! Master beekeepers will teach the basics of backyard beekeeping , and local experts will have tips and tricks for supporting native bees around your gardens . Enjoy games and activities , buzz around the vendor booths to browse some great bee products , and support our wonderful pollinators ! Activities while supplies last . Allergy alert : as with any visit to the outdoors , it is possible to come into contact with live bees and / or other stinging insects .
