Squirrel ! Saturday , Sept . 9 • 1 p . m . McCloud Nature Park
Caught between unbridled admiration by those who delight in their acrobatic ways and relentless persecution by others intent on “ doing battle ” with them , squirrels are often misunderstood . Come learn about the furry , feisty , and frantic life of a squirrel . We ’ ll discuss traits , backyard antics , and meaning behind their behaviors . The program will include squirrel shenanigan viewing . Following the program , add some time to your visit by traipsing through the 2023 Prairie Maze that just so happens to be in the shape of …. a squirrel !

Family Campout Saturday – Sunday , Sept . 16-17 McCloud Nature Park
This is your chance to camp at McCloud Nature Park ! Many families try this as their first family camping trip because this is close to home , and they enjoy the naturalist-led activities . Want to try camping but don ’ t have the gear ? We have partnered with Camptown who are offering gear rental for this weekend ! Don ’ t know how to start a campfire ? We ’ ll teach you , and we ’ ll provide firewood and s ’ mores . Relax at your campsite , or explore the prairie maze , park trails , or go creek stomping . Join the naturalists for a night hike , and then wake up to a continental breakfast .

Did you forget your fishing poles and bait AGAIN ? We ’ ve got you covered ! Borrow a pole and bait from the naturalist . Enjoy some fish activities even if you don ’ t want to get your hands wet and slimy . Meet at the fishing dock . NOTE : Any anglers age 18 + are required to have a fishing license to borrow a fishing pole . Parents or guardians who are simply supervising their children fishing do not need a license .
