Enjoy the beautiful fall colors and the crisp air while running the trails at McCloud Nature Park . Scenes will include forest , prairie , Big Walnut Creek , and the historic truss bridge ! After the professionally timed race , stick around for the McCloud Fall Colors Festival which includes food , archery , atlatls , hayrides , prairie maze , games , and more for the whole family ! Get in the festive spirit and create your own winter scene on a canvas . Relax inside the Nature Center for this special painting party . Anyone can be confident to walk away with a beautiful piece of art by following the directions of instructor Sherri Weir . All supplies are provided .

It starts with an “ s ” and ends with a “ t ”. It comes out of you , it comes out of me . We know what you ’ re thinking ... but it ’ s not that . We naturalists call it “ SCAT ”. We ’ ll walk a trail to look for scat and to discover what the animals been munching on . Make your own edible scat from candy just in time for Halloween . ( A non-edible option will be provided for participants with food allergies .)
Hiking terrain : easy / moderate , natural trail surface , up to 1 mile .

Why are Chickadees in Indiana Weird ? Saturday , Nov . 19 • 10 a . m . McCloud Nature Park
Perky little chickadees in Indiana are unique in their song diversity , with over 100 song types documented in central Indiana . Many of which are more complex than the typical chickadee song . What makes these Hoosier chickadees so special ? Join Jonathan B Jenkins , a Purdue Ph . D . student , for a short indoor presentation to learn about Carolina chickadee songs and the reasons why Indiana has affected their songs . Then walk the trails to discover the best places to find chickadees at McCloud Nature Park so you can keep an eye and an ear out for these incredible birds .
