2-Part
Veg 1 & 2, and Flower 1 & 2
● Four Bottles
● Mix parts 1 & 2 in equal ratios
● During the respective growth phases
Or 2 bottle total: Part A & Part B
● First bottle heavier on N, 2nd heavier on PK
● Mix Part A and B during Veg and gradually, heavier on B and lighter on A during the Flower stage.
3-Part
● Three bottles
● Veg bottle, Base bottle, Bloom bottle,
● Commonly referred to as“ Veg, Micro, Bloom”
● Using all three— start mixing heavier during vegetative and transition to heavier bloom as the plant develops.
There is not one that is necessarily better than the next— it’ s about how mixy-matchy, mad-sciencey, or just one-and-go you want to be— more parts = more specificity. I have used every kind of nutrient that I have outlined here for you, and I have been able to achieve outstanding results with each of them.
In the old days, there were just a very small handful of nutrient companies, and they couldn’ t even advertise for cannabis. Today, the landscape has completely changed in that regard, and your local grow shop will help you choose what is appropriate for your home grow.
You do not need to stay within one brand when choosing nutrients. For example, you can pick a single-part veg nutrient and switch to a two-part flowering nutrient as I outlined in my“ Cannabis Cup Winning Grow” article in the August 2025 issue.( If you missed that issue, it can be found at www. TheEvolutionMag. com. issue.)
Additional supplemental nutrients and additives that I recommend:
● Bacteria,“ Mykos,” and Humic and Amino acids
● Cal-Mag
● Silica
● Nitrogen
● PK Booster
● Foliar Sprays
You can let the folks at your local grow shop recommend a nutrient line for you or pick your own, but you can’ t go wrong with a one-part all-in-one nutrient to get you started with your plant-growing adventure. Remember, you can always tweak and change things as you learn and grow forward. Lastly, I am available at Emerald Garden Grow Supply for Free personal grow consultations. I’ m happy to help walk you through your grow from seed to harvest!

Gerry Donovan, the owner of Emerald Garden Grow Supply, Raytown, MO, says,“ I am not a plant Biologist nor a Chemist. I do not have any formal cannabis plant education, as that was a non-existent thing before today’ s world. I do, however, have a passion for cannabis, which words fail to describe. I’ ve traveled throughout Europe, including Amsterdam, Spain, and Canada, where I not only ventured into the world of seeds and genetics but also continued my quest to learn as much as I could about Growing the Plant, the many ways to utilize the plant, and observed the industry blossom as we know it today. I continue to expand my knowledge via grow seminars and cultivators’ conferences and, most importantly, through simple discussions with other growers. Over the last 22 years, I’ ve developed my own Grow Methodology through trial and error with love and passion. I hope to guide you on the pathway to enjoying the best cannabis you have ever consumed— your own homegrown!” Cannabis – Education – Wellness.
