However , everything changed in the middle of 2021 when Litz learned that , while the department cannot recommend or prescribe cannabis for veterans , they will not withhold a veteran ’ s benefits for using it . In fact , it ’ s recommended veterans talk to their doctors about how cannabis might aid them . “ Cannabis helps me to cope with my PTSD and also my head injury from overseas ,” says Litz . These unique challenges exacerbated the devastating psychological impact of losing his beloved wife , Nikki , in 2022 . Yet , Scoob continues to keep pushing forward to the best of his abilities , leading his crew day in and day out .
For his specific terpene palette , Litz prefers Cherry Diesel , an Indica beloved for its reputation of pain relief and mental clarity without much of a couch-locked effect Indicas are known for .
Litz quickly knew he had found a work community that would support and uplift him through the mental and physical challenges that veterans uniquely face . Now , he hopes to see more veteran representation in the industry .

“ This is the best trim crew I have ever had , and as a manager , I would love to hire more vets ,” Litz says . “ It feels like the cannabis community is really big on supporting us as vets .”
