It ’ s Time … Schedule and Routine Real Talk …
by Tara Holm , contributing writer
Summer is moving to the past . Now , everyone is back to school , and we are “ fall-ing ” back into the routine . For some , it may be harder to find that motivation . We try something new for two weeks ; then , we fall back into bad habits . It ’ s a pattern , and some recognize it faster than others . Schedules are important . It keeps life balanced . Have you ever thought about why babies do well on a schedule of sleep , eat , poop , repeat ? From pre-school through high school , you keep a routine and schedule . As we grow through college and then onto adulthood , that routine seems to fall off track .
Of course , some out there thrive off routine and can ’ t think of a day without it ! Cheers to you ! For the rest of us , we are operating unsupervised . If you don ’ t have the drive and or don ’ t have a supportive partner to encourage you , get out your pen and paper .
Let ’ s dive into some ways to break bad habits and keep consistency going . Always go into anything with a positive attitude — positivity in everything you do . See yourself succeeding .
First Steps
1 . Ask yourself , what is one thing I ’ m really bad at when doing something healthy for yourself or keeping a routine ?
2 . Asking those tough questions will make you go deeper into your “ why ’ s .” If excuses keep coming up , keep asking the “ why ’ s .”
3 . No one will ask you the questions , and no one will make you do it . It ’ s You versus You .
4 . Voice your goals . Let everyone know your intention . Let others help and cheer you on !
Digging deep makes us think about our choices and the stories we tell ourselves . No one is a victim , and no one will save you . You
18 September 2023 are the Superhero ! Look at your choices and ask , “ Is this going to help or hinder me ?” That question can be asked on a lot of decisions we make throughout our day .
Next Step — Let ’ s look into what a typical day looks like . 1 . What time do you get up ? 2 . Do you make your bed ? 3 . What is the first thing you look at in the morning ? 4 . Mealtimes ? Evening routine ? 5 . Sleep schedule ? All these things add up and are important in balancing a healthy and happy life . There are so many external things that we can grasp onto , only to give us a short amount of ecstasy .
Write these questions down and answer them . See where , how , and who you spend your time with . Look at the details . Are they hindering or helping you ? Is it bringing you time , joy , or money ? You are your Best Teacher if you sit with yourself . The thing is — YOU get to customize your day to make it the best day !
● Maybe morning cardio or coffee watching the sunrise .
● An afternoon workout or 30 minutes reading a good / positive book .
● Evening walks or meal preparation with a fun tea .
Make your day special . You are the main character in your story . The start and end of our days are just as important to stay on track as during the day . Starting and ending the day in gratitude will make your days magical .
Ways to Start a Healthy Day
Wake up 10 minutes early — five minutes to say gratitude and affirmations . Five minutes to stretch . Glass of warm-lemon water to detox . Gazing into the first rays of sunshine to activate the nervous system .
Throughout the day , small meals every two – three hours to keep blood sugars regulated and stop the Hangry Monster from attacking . Of course , good high-quality H2o keeps the energy and digestive systems in full work mode . Set a time for social media . Don ’ t waste time gossiping ; only speak good positive words . Get sunshine and fresh air .
Wrapping Up a Healthy Day
Evening routines are my fav ! Having everyone on the same page for a nighttime routine will only give you a peaceful night ’ s rest . Set a timer ! Have chores finished up one hour before bed — next , 30 minutes for finishing anything that can ’ t wait for the next day . Lastly , wrap your day with 30 minutes focused on skin , teeth , stretching routine , reading , journaling , prayers , gratitude , and breathwork !
Routine is EVERYTHING ! Keep trying new things that fit and work into your schedule ! Make it fit you . Not everything will be fun and exciting . But it makes you grow in a positive way !
Keep going , Homies ! I left the real secret in the third paragraph — Consistency !
Love and Light , Friends ! Tara
