Their active lives make me tired just trying to keep track of them . Exotic vacations and lake homes are making all those years of hard work seem worth it . Hey , Mick , getting old may not be such a drag after all .
For those of us with medical issues , marijuana has proven to be a godsend . I know several seniors who had never used cannabis or hadn ’ t smoked for several decades
to make these miraculous Rice Krispy treats , the recipe is quite simple . You just follow the directions on the box and then add the secret ingredient — love . No , not really . The secret ingredient is cannabis , lots and lots . Instead of regular butter , substitute with some really potent cannabutter .
You may notice I haven ’ t used names or revealed identities , but the one exception will be for seventy-one-year-old Steve Swena . Steve ( photo on the right ) is a retired undercover narcotics officer who finds himself in a curious position . After spending eighteen years sending people to jail for crimes , including marijuana , he is now a frequent cannabis user and has his stateissued medical card .
He has no regrets about his previous life because he was raised in a strict home and was taught to follow the law , but he wishes cannabis had been legalized much sooner .
Now that he knows the other side of the story , he has found that not only is this so-called whacky weed harmless — it is also beneficial for him .
I like to sit around , smoke pot , listen to Led Zeppelin , and I ’ m tired of people hassling me about it . Many seniors tell me , cannabis , whether medical or recreational , improves their quality of life .
