A New Micro Dispensary Set to Open
Where You ’ re Also Purchasing a Redemption Story

If you could wave a magic wand in the ideal world of cannabis legalization , many of us would want to purchase our legal cannabis from some of the old “ legacy ” cannabis dealers whom many of us built personal relationships with and just as many whose lives were devastated by the prohibition of cannabis .
Thankfully , Kansas City will soon get its chance with Jimi Poe , who was awarded a micro dispensary license in the first round . So far , out of the first two rounds , 32 micro dispensary licenses and 64 operational licenses have been awarded . With an operational license , you can cultivate and manufacture . One more round of micro licenses will be awarded , taking the total to 48 dispensary licenses and 96 wholesale licenses .
Many micro license skeptics believe one of two things , if not both . First , the limited number of plants the producers can grow ( 250 in flowering ) and only being able to sell to micro dispensaries will create bottlenecks and chokeholds of product availability . Second , with the similar operational costs of regular licenses , several management and investment groups have already scooped up their micro representatives , leaving them with less ownership and responsibilities . At the same time , the bigger brands do the work .
Thankfully , this second obstacle isn ’ t the case for Poe , as his goal is to personally sell consumers cannabis with his story .
Born in St . Joe , MO , then moving to KC in the seventh grade , Poe was viewed as just another young local Missourian growing through adolescent opportunities to become a better version of himself with endless opportunities at his fingertips . That is until everyone ’ s view of him changed for most of his adult life .
Poe was 20 years old when a “ friend ” turned informant to reduce their own cannabis charges set him up for a cannabis sale to an undercover police officer .

“ When I went to prison , I first went to processing , and normally you are there for three to six weeks — it ’ s a 23-hour lockdown ,” Poe explained . “ However , I got lost in the system and ended up there for 12 weeks , then I got shipped out to Hutchinson , KS . They had a max , medium , and a minimum-security facility . I thought I was going to the minimum-security camp , but I got put behind the wall in MAX .” Even Poe ’ s caseworker knew he shouldn ’ t be in Max for a first-time cannabis sale , but it took Poe fighting for his rights behind bars to get to the minimum camp where he belonged .
