Much to be Thankful for After One Year of Legal Sales
In October , it was one year ago that the first legal Missouri medical cannabis sale took place . The exact date was October 17 , 2020 , when N ’ Bliss Cannabis of St . Louis opened to patients and delivered the historic first Missouri sale .
The long , long lines of patients thankfully stood as N ’ Bliss opened its doors . Thankful and grateful to be among the first — no matter how long the lines were — to purchase the alternative medicine they waited so long to become legal .
Next to open , on October 19 , was Fresh Green KC , the first dispensary on the Western side of the state to unveil its Lee ’ s Summit location . Once again , patients thankfully stood in long , long lines , anxious to walk through the door for their first purchases .
Southern Missouri was next to make history when Cassville Dispensary opened on October 29 , followed by Old Route 66 Wellness opening on election day ( 2020 ) November 3 , in Springfield , MO , becoming the first medical marijuana dispensary in Springfield to open .
Thankfully , the ball was rolling at a faster and faster pace , opening after opening . Today , nearly 155 of the 192 dispensary licenses awarded are approved to operate , with almost all open for patients . There are 37 cultivation businesses open and 45 manufacturing with more opening each week . It ’ s been a great past year for patients and those within the industry . There is much to be thankful for as the industry blossoms over the coming years ; that trend is sure to continue .
